Wishfull Fourth of July Posh

July 4 1999 - July 21 2007

My Best Friend... My Heart dog, my Posh Posh

I purchased my first Shar Pei puppy in 1999. Posh was bought from a backyard breeder, she never saw the show ring. Posh was a champion in her moms heart and that was all that truly mattered. After a long illness, unrelated to the breed, Posh was humanely destroyed on July 21 2007. Posh and I were a team. You never saw one without the other. When she took ill, it was everything my vet and I could do to save her, but it wasn't meant to be.

The 3 photo's above were taken in April 2007 at a robust and healthy weight. The picture below is the saddest image I have ever seen. It was taken just 45 minutes before we said goodbye for the last time. Knowing we were off to the vet, I decided to spent our last 2 hours together in the July sun. While in the little park on my property, friends came by to say simply, "we love you Posh Posh." She was quiet and ready to say goodbye. As hard as it was, I knew it was finally time to let go. I saw it in her eyes, she was ready. Posh was without question my HEART DOG. She was my greatest joy and will be forever missed.

Your Mama loves you Posh Posh, your Mama loves you.

The Rainbow Bridge

For Posh and all that went before her and will go after her

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
